The toughest race with the warmest heart.

Trail Run Info

Route Type: TRAIL RUN

If you are an experience trail runner then this new trail route with beautiful fynbos and spectacular views is an absolute must run.

No wonder we’re known as, “The toughest race with the warmest heart.”

The Journey in the Heuningberg local nature reserve starts on High School Bredasdorp Sport Grounds making its way to the western foothills of the nature reserve.

For the first kilometre you’ll run on jeep track and about 300m on tarmac before you turn onto the single track at the end of the cul-de-sac.  Turn left directly after the wooden bridge.  Not long after the wooden bridge over the stream you’ll turn up the mountain for the main climb of the day (after about 2 km):  200m climbing within 1.5km.  You’ll find a water station around the 5km mark, which is the highest point on the course.  From there you’ll be running on the ridge of the cliff you will enjoy the unspoiled beauty of this part of the world.

You are now heading in the direction of the radio towers on Heuningberg with the shortest route possible (right at the T-junction and left at the fork, 100m further).  You’ll go left around the small hill and about 300m before you get to the radio towers, you’ll take the jeeptrack (turn right) down the back of the mountain.  The jeeptrack is paved for most of the way.  You’ll turn left onto a shortcut singletrack just before the paving ends (with the burnt veld on your right and the fynbos on your left), and then you join the jeep track again towards the west.  Go right around the small hill, cross the jeep track and proceed on the zig-zag single track behind the hospital.  At the bottom you’ll turn right towards the High School where you’ll finish.

You have 4 hours to finish this race. The final cut-off is 12:00 at the finish.

High School Bredasdorp Sport Grounds.

The race starts at 8:00.
