There are races you run for a PB, and then there are races you run for your soul.

In 1977, a small group of runners set out across the rugged landscape of the Overberg. They didn’t have carbon-plated shoes, GPS watches, or high-tech hydration vests. They just had the road, the wind, and the determination to see what lay beyond the next hill.

Today, as we prepare for the 45th Annual Voet Van Afrika on 19 September 2026, that spirit remains unchanged. Known affectionately as “the toughest race with the warmest heart,” Voet has become more than just an event, it’s a pilgrimage.

More Than Just Miles

What makes Voet Van Afrika legendary? Ask any runner who has faced the “Anysberg” or felt the climb into the mountains. It’s a race that demands respect. It tests your lungs, your quads, and your mental fortitude.
